The sabletheeth (Smilodon) was exclusive of North and South America. It lived from 700 to 400 thousand years ago and was extincted 10.000 years ago (an isolated population survived in Wrangel Island, in Siberia, until 4.000 years ago, so coexisted with the Egipt pyramids!)
Also, rodents had not big colmillos like hunters.

The dodo (Raphus cucullatus) lived in Mauricio Island, in the Indic Ocean and was extincted around 1681 AD. It didn’t in the Ice Age nor in North America. The real extinction was because of invasive alien species introduced by people and also direct hunting.
The bird wasn’t fat nor clumsy. The concept comes from captive undernourished animals, or disecados/rellenos incorrectamente.

Este es el típico dato viral: la pintura de Giovanni Stanchi (s. XVII) muestra una sandía con el interior lleno de espacios vacíos y semillas dispersas en espiral, muy distinta a la pulpa roja compacta actual.

La explicación real: no es que “cambió poco a poco sola”, sino que es resultado de selección artificial humana durante siglos — se fue favoreciendo la variedad con más pulpa, menos espacio hueco y color más intenso (más licopeno).

Clovis technology (because of the Clovis arqueological site in New Mexico, discovered in 1929) dated aproximately 13.000-12.700 años (final of the Pleistocenean).
