Natural Environment

Natura 2000 Network

Natura 2000 Network is the biggest and más denso system to conservate biodiversity of the world.

The Natura 2000 protected areas network is a system of the EU to conservate its biodiversity. It comprises habitats and species. You can access the map here: Natura 2000 viewer.

The areas of the Natura 2000 network refers to the so-called Natura Directives. They are two: The “Birds Directive” and the “Habitat Directive”.

The Birds Directive

The Birds Directive aims for many species of birds within the Union, listed in the annexes. There is a concern also for its nests, eggs, and habitats.

Each Country has to maintain a population of those birds in an appropriate level. For that, they must have enough biodiversity and habitats for them. To achieve that, they have to create protected areas, manage them well, and create biotopes.
